Jean-Louis Scherrer

Jean-Louis Scherrer began his design career in the 1950s, apprenticed at Christian Dior and later under Yves Saint Laurent, before founding his own couture house in Paris in 1962. With elegant coats, pronounced shoulders, and distinctly couture refinement, the brand quickly became a symbol of French chic and dramatic allure.

In 1979, Scherrer opened a new chapter with the launch of his first fragrance, simply named Jean-Louis Scherrer , his signature perfumery signature. This fragrance, a chypre with green and floral facets, became a classic and remained firmly anchored in perfumery through its characterful composition and couture aesthetic.

Although the fashion collections under his name changed and faded in later years, perfumery remained a core element of the brand. After Scherrer's death in 2013, the brand name was revived with reissues and new arrivals, while maintaining the essence of refinement and boldness.
