Jean-Louis Scherrer

He began his design career in the 1950s, with an apprenticeship at Christian Dior and later under Yves Saint Laurent, after which he founded his own couture house in Paris in 1962. With elegant coats, prominent shoulders, and pronounced couture refinement, the brand quickly grew into a symbol of French chic and dramatic allure.

In 1979, Scherrer started a new chapter with the launch of his first fragrance, simply named Jean-Louis Scherrer, his signature in perfumery art. This fragrance, a chypre with green and floral facets, became a classic that remained firmly rooted in perfumery due to its distinctive composition and couture aesthetic.

Although the fashion collections under his name changed and faded in later years, perfumery remained a core part of the brand. After Scherrer's death in 2013, the brand name was revived with reissues and new arrivals, always keeping the essence of style and daring at its core.
